Ellen Newton began coaching with FCA during 2024. Ellen was first introduced to FCA through a coaches convention. She has been on the D'Youville women's lacrosse coaching staff since 2019, and serves as a Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Newton joined the Saints coaching staff after wrapping up a four-year playing career for Canisius College's women's lacrosse team. During her time in the Blue and Gold, she compiled a 10.65 goals against average along with a 0.461 save percentage. Newton capped off her career with an incredible performance on Senior Day, recording a career-high 15 saves in a Griffs win.

While at Canisius, Newton was selected as a national finalist for the Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award, which recognizes six women's lacrosse players throughout all of Division I who help their teams achieve success in ways that cannot be measured in goals, saves, or ground balls. She also earned the athletic department's Community Service Award, as well as the Heart of a Griffin Award.
