Coach Hughes was introduced to FCA when 2 of his sons joined the program in 2019 and continue to be part of the organization of today.  Hughes joined the coaching staff of FCA Upstate Lacrosse in the fall of 2023.

He grew up playing lacrosse in Rush-Henrietta, NY starting at the age of 7 and continued through college playing at Herkimer for Coach Paul wherum

Hughes currently coaches the Modified team for Rush-Henrietta as well as helping to train modified, JV, and Varsity players in the off season. He is also an integral part of the youth level in the Rush-Henrietta Lacrosse program today.

Coach Hughes works as a Music teacher in the Rochester area after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan College and Masters Degrees from New York University.

Coach Hughes has very strong ties in serving his community by not only coaching but also actively volunteering with  the Boy Scouts of America as well as at his church.

Hughes believes strongly in these methods of mentoring  children by following the words of retired football coach Tony Dungy: “Engage, educate, equip, encourage, empower, energize, and elevate. Those are the methods for maximizing the potential of any individual, team, and organization for ultimate success and significance.”
